Kristy McNichol spent most of her retirement teaching acting at a Los Angeles private school, and volunteering. She finally put an end to years of conjecture when she came out as a lesbian in 2012. She has been with her girlfriend, Martie Allen, since the early ’90s. McNichol said this with the expectation that it would stop the bullying of youngsters who come out as gay.
When McNichol left Hollywood in 2012, she came out as a someone who is interested in the same gender and revealed her relationship with Allen in a picture she shared with People. When they finally came out as a couple, they had been residing together for two decades.
