New Civil Lawsuit Accuses Conor McGregor of Sexual Battery During a 2023 NBA Game

Mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor is making headlines again. This time not for his performance in the octagon, but for a legal battle stemming from a night at the 2023 NBA Finals. The 36-year-old fighter is accused of sexual battery in a civil lawsuit filed by a woman, identified as Jane Doe. She claims that McGregor assaulted her during Game 4 between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets.
The allegations have reignited public scrutiny, though McGregor’s legal team strongly denies the claims.
What is the Lawsuit Against Conor McGregor?
The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of Florida, alleges that Conor McGregor assaulted the plaintiff on June 9, 2023, inside a men’s bathroom at Miami’s Kaseya Center. According to the complaint, McGregor’s private security or acquaintance led Jane Doe to the restroom after she tried to leave a VIP area.
The plaintiff claims McGregor then sexually assaulted her in a toilet stall while her friend was blocked from entering.

Conor / IG / Claiming sexual assault, the plaintiff is seeking more than $75,000 in compensatory damages.
McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, has labeled the accusations a “false story.” She maintains confidence that the case will be dismissed, citing the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s prior decision to decline criminal charges after their investigation.
Witness accounts at the time reportedly contradicted the plaintiff’s claims, with no apparent signs of distress observed.
What Happened That Night?
The NBA Finals game at the Kaseya Center was a high-energy event, and Conor McGregor was there in a promotional role. He took to the court during the third quarter for a planned skit with Burnie, the Miami Heat mascot, to market a pain relief spray.
In an unexpected turn, McGregor threw punches at the mascot, injuring the man inside the costume and sending him to the hospital.
After the skit, McGregor returned to a VIP section, where he allegedly interacted with the plaintiff. According to Jane Doe, the encounter escalated when McGregor’s associate “grabbed” her wrist and led her to the restroom. Inside, the lawsuit claims McGregor engaged in sexual acts without her consent.
McGregor’s Legal Defense
Conor McGregor has faced allegations of misconduct before, but his legal team has consistently fought back, emphasizing the lack of credible evidence. In this case, the Miami-Dade State Attorney closed its initial investigation, determining there was not enough to support the claims.

Conor / IG / In 2023, the Miami-Dade State Attorney ruled that the allegations were false. McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, is confident that the “false story” will also be dismissed this time.
The attorney’s memo highlighted witness testimony suggesting the plaintiff acted normally after the alleged incident. Security personnel reportedly saw her return to her seat and continue socializing with McGregor later that evening. McGregor’s team argues these details undermine the validity of the claims.
What Does This Mean for the Kaseya Center?
Jane Doe’s lawsuit doesn’t just target Conor McGregor. It also accuses the Kaseya Center’s operators and security staff of negligence. The complaint alleges that employees failed to protect her from harm and allowed McGregor, who was allegedly intoxicated, to remain in the venue.
The lawsuit paints a troubling picture of the venue’s operations, alleging staff members provided McGregor with alcohol throughout the evening despite his behavior. These claims could have serious ramifications for the Kaseya Center’s reputation and policies, especially regarding high-profile guests.
