MrBeast posted the underwater stunt video in August 2018, by which point he had gained some substantial popularity. Judging by some of the comments on the video, some of his fans were fully expecting him to pass the challenge.
The plan was to keep his head inside a container that had some air locked in so he could breathe while keeping his head underwater. It worked for a while, but eventually, Donaldson had to come out due to wellness issues.
