This picture is one of sorrow and anguish, which almost no one would even wish on their worst enemy. This misfortune befell weightlifter János Baranyai at the 2008 Summer Olympics when he attempted to lift 326 lbs in the men’s 169 lbs snatch.
Thankfully, he was able to recover after two long and grueling years and returned to international competitions at the 2010 European Championships and World Championships. He placed 7th and 15th, respectively, and Baranyai’s last competitions were in 2015.
