When BBC reporter Mike Bushell was asked to interview a few Commonwealth Games swimmers next to a swimming pool, he probably thought to himself: “It’s a live transmission, Mike, so be careful not to fall in the water.” Sometimes, though, the worst thing that can happen… Happens.
While “don’t fall in the pool” is the number one rule of any poolside live transmission, poor Bushell ended up becoming viral after tripping, falling in the water, and ruining one of BBC’s microphones. The surprised faces of the Commonwealth swimmers were telling that the moment wasn’t scripted, and so was Bushell’s desperate reaction.
