In 1987, Fish clarified on-air that a woman’s claim that a hurricane was on the way to hit the United Kingdom wasn’t true. He assured viewers that there wasn’t a need to worry, leaving the people complacent. The Great Storm came and killed over 15 people and damaged properties, so the meteorologist apologized.
