The two members of the team who noticed the odd object were Beau Doherty and Tella Osler. At first, they thought it was just trash and swam towards it to get rid of it. After all, the ocean has been littered enough by humanity.
However, as the pair got closer, Doherty observed that the item had solid edges as well as a leather strap. He pulled the belt and was shocked to see a round lens staring at him. Despite all the algae and barnacles encrusted on it, he instantly knew this was a camera!
