Diver Finds Old Planes At Bottom Of Pacific, Then Understand Why They Were There
Invaluable Treasure
The process of dumping these planes wasn’t as easy as it sounds. The Navy loaded them onto an aircraft carrier and then used forklifts to push them off into the lagoon near Roi. The site is now aptly called the ‘Million Dollar Point’ because of how much money went down the drain – or in this case, the ocean.
The waters also became contaminated with tons of fuel, metal, rubber, and other waste. Mueller couldn’t help but be annoyed at the extent of wastage at the site. At least, the government could have gifted their extras to the Marshall Islands to help them beat poverty. Alas, that’s not what happened.
