Following the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, women got some basic rights, such as the right to vote, the right to drive, and the right to attend university. That, however, doesn’t mean Iranian women are free or even nearly as free as their male counterparts.

Iranian women are still forced to wear a veil in public and cover their entire bodies, except for their faces and hands. Even more restrictive is the fact that they are forbidden from dancing and watching men’s sports.
