In the epic book trilogy “His Dark Material,” author Sir Philip Pullman explores an alternate universe where polar bears can speak and the main character, Lyra rides one. That is probably the kind of thing this photographer was going or when constructing this shot.
But it turns out the girl looks more like she’s comforting the bear than riding it. She deserved kudo though, for being out in that swimsuit while it’s snowing around her. This is another shot with Stepan the Bear, which was for his fundraising initiative against bear hunting.
