Russian men are renowned for being hard. And why not? They survive harsh winters, and all have to go for mandatory service in the military. Military service is compulsory for men between 18 and 27 years old, meaning the two gentlemen cutting the watermelon have served already.
But they appear to have lost none of their army extravagances, though, and are wasting no time going through that fruit the fast way. In their day, the compulsory service duration was two years which got reduced to 18 months in 2007, and in 2008 came down to just 12 months.
