Anyone who has been a basketball fan for a long time and has a good ear can remember the famous “Havlicek steals the ball!” by Johnny Most. However, the preceding event is hardly mentioned as it futures arguably Bill Russell’s biggest failure.
With Bill’s Boston Celtics leading the Philadelphia 76ers by a point, his inbound pass bounced off the guide wires, giving the 76ers a shot at the win. Luckily, his team won the game, and the failure was quickly forgotten.
