Sporting records are often associated with glory-filled moments, such as when Michael Jordan broke the record for the highest career regular-season scoring average. While such records are prestigious, others are best forgotten, even by the holders.
Joe Fulks set one such record in 1947 when he missed 42 of his 55 field goal attempts. At the time, he was playing for the Philadelphia Warriors, who were beating the Providence Steamrollers, and he kept launching the shots. Such statistics had surely never been heard of in those days.
