The show’s English title is The Substitute, and it is a Chilean production that was shot on location in Santiago. A successful financial executive called Charly is the protagonist of the show. He loses prestige, women, and wealth after making a financial deal that was risky.
After a stint in prison, he is paroled and he has to start looking for work. He ends up taking a substitute teacher job working with troubled youth. It’s essentially an inspiring story about second chances. It is partially inspired by the 2011 student protests in the country.
