Superman (1978) antagonist Gene Hackman first met his wife, Betsy Arakawa, in the early ’80s at a fitness center in California. Back in those days, Betsy wasn’t a renowned classical pianist. Instead, she was working part-time to make ends meet. That didn’t matter to Gene, who fell in love with her immediately and asked her out.
The couple dated for several years, and Betsy even moved in with Gene in his Santa Fe home. At the time, Gene’s divorce from his first wife wasn’t complete, so many people called Betsy inappropriate names, but this was far from accurate. They proved their love for each other by getting married in 1991 and staying together for three decades now!
