It’s Hard To Forget These Biggest NFL Draft Busts

Art Schlichter – Baltimore Colts, 1982 Draft

Before he was even signed to the NFL, Art Schlichter was in massive debt, which had all been taken up to fund this star’s gambling problem. So Baltimore Colts should have known better than to give the footballer his entire $350,000 signing bonus in one go.

By mid-season of his rookie year, Schlichter had used up all his earnings and had no means of survival until his next pay. While there was no denying that he was an asset in the field, this former player’s team eventually fired him since he became more of a liability. As they say, too much money in the wrong hands causes trouble.
