Dogs tend to lick themselves occasionally, which is a typical grooming behavior. However, it can also serve as a means of soothing, relieving itching, and alleviating pain. Still, it doesn’t make it any less weird to see. But it couldn’t be weirder than the dog painting like a pro in that position.
The owner probably won’t have reacted the same if he knew he was getting a lovely portrait instead. Occasionally, dogs may just develop a habit of licking themselves or do so due to allergies.
