They say the little things matter in life. Of course, they do if they fly toward you with sharp teeth and claws. Ideally, the cliché is often used to express delight or contentment in seemingly trivial or insignificant events. But there’s nothing trivial about what’s happening here.
The saying probably became common after Sonny James released his single “It’s the Little Things” in 1967. The track was massively successful, spending fourteen weeks on the chart and holding the top spot for five consecutively.
