Oddly Satisfying Pictures For People Who Love Patterns & Perfection

Fibonacci Flower

There is no shortage of beautiful flowers in the world. But if there’s one flower that’s immensely satisfying to look at, that’s the Camellia japonica, also known as the Phi flower. This beautiful plant with symmetrical petals can be found in Japan, China, or Korea, and is extremely long-lived.

But what’s truly surprising about the Phi flower is that its petals follow the Fibonacci sequence perfectly. The Fibonacci sequence, in which each number is the sum of the two previous ones, is incredibly popular in mathematics. There’s even a scientific journal about the subject, the Fibonacci Quarterly, which is published four times per year.
