Don’t Stand On The Toilet!
One of the questions that we don’t always ask before visiting a foreign country is the toilet situation. When visiting Thailand, you’ll encounter four types of toilets: the standard home-type, variations with a bum gun/water hose, the modern high-tech kind, and the traditional squat-type.
The old-fashioned squat-type is rather common, and it’s typically not a Western traveler’s favorite. That is why this sign warning against standing on the toilet seems confusing to a Westerner. Well, this restroom had to remind anyone who is accustomed to the squat-type that these standard toilets aren’t designed for a squat posture.
