An Unexpected Guest
She was at home having dinner with her daughter when a knock came on the door. They weren’t expecting guests, so it was a surprise. On getting to the door, it turned out to be the police. Not knowing how to react, she had fear and puzzlement written all over her face.
Law enforcement in China is not only extensive but involves a variety of procedures to maintain order. It did not include friendly visits by the neighborhood cop. So this meant something was wrong. Worse off, she had probably committed a crime.
