A 2014 study estimated that there are around two million rats in New York City, This ended up making the rat a bit of a cultural icon for the Big Apple. Many iconic rat photographs in NYC include the vermin eating pizza and even fighting a fellow rodent.
Rats have had some positive image in the media with the release of Disney’s 2007 film “Ratatouille,” a film about a rat named Remy in Paris who wants to be a chef.
