In 2018, Shawn Michaels made his final ring appearance. But his influence has never left the WWE, in which he found unpaired success as “The Heartbreak Kid” and as the headliner of multiple Wrestlemania events. Known for his heroic spirit and not-so-humble wrestling persona, Michaels marked a generation of fans and fighters and retired thrice: first in 1998, due to a back injury, then in 2010, and finally in 2018, after a brief return.
Extremely skilled on the ring, Michaels was also very talented as an actor and presenter. He fitted the world of sports-entertainment, just like a glove. In 2014, WWE named Michaels’ fight against John Cena in April 2007 as Raw’s best match ever.
