A retired businesswoman, Iris Apfel can be described in many words, but ‘stylish icon’ tops them all. Well, it’s not surprising that despite starting as an interior designer, the star ended up pursuing a fashion career as well, like her fashion boutique-owning mother.
Iris and her husband Carl Apfel launched the textile firm ‘Old World Weavers’ best known for antique fabrics. This reputation saw her do White House restoration projects for nine US presidents before evolving into a fashion mogul in 2005. She signed her first modeling gig at the age of 97, and even now, retirement is not on the star’s radar. She works at the interior design company ‘Lowe’s,’ while also designing statement eyewear pieces.
