Patti LaBelle has been in the music industry for over five decades. She started as part of a group before her solo career began. Her big break came in the eighties with hit singles like If Only You Knew, Stir It Up, New Attitude, and On My Own, with the latter being her greatest hit after ranking number one on Billboard Hot 100.
For her performance, she has been inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame, Apollo Theatre Hall of Fame, and Hollywood Hall of Fame. After contracting diabetes herself, LaBelle became a spokesperson for organizations fighting the disease.
