Alun Armstrong – 75, Sweeney Todd

Alun Armstrong is an English actor who became inspired to pursue acting through Shakespeare productions at his grammar school. Alun is a full-spectrum character actor and easily adapts to various roles. He went on to make his screen debut in the 1971 movie ‘Get Cater’ after enlisting with MGM manager Hodgson, who was keen on casting local actors at that time.

Since his screen breakthrough, Alun has had other notable appearances, including several ‘Charles Dickson’ adaptations, ‘The Mummy Returns,’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’ for which he won an Olivier Award. Alun’s last film appearance was in the 2014 black comedy movie ‘Exit the King’ and has since retired from acting.
