Harry Belafonte did the impossible when he began his musical career in the ’50s. In his way, he helped popularize the Trinbagonian Caribbean musical style among an international audience. But his success in music is only amplified by his similar accomplishments as an actor and activist.
Belafonte has three Grammy Awards, an Emmy, and a Tony award. And in 2022, he got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, becoming the oldest living person to receive that honor. Who would’ve thought that a man who made his start singing in a New York club to pay for his acting classes would achieve this much?
