Dangerous, Wacky and Eye-Widening Sports Connecting Communities Across the World
Not for People Afraid of Heights
Going over a stream is much faster than going through it. This is how far leaping, or Fierljeppen in Frisian, was believed to be created. Farmers used poles to catapult over bodies of water to make their travels easier.
Some 26 to 43-foot poles are used to jump across the water to land on a sand bed on the opposite side. This leaping sport was featured on the 12th season of the hit show, “The Amazing Race.”
Competitors must be strong swimmers with good lungs for the following competition.
