Haka pei takes place on a 35-degree slope and travels down 1,967 feet. Competitors make their sleds out of single or double banana tree trunks, and they wear traditional loin cloths as uniforms.
Although this competition was temporarily forbidden due to injuries, it is now alive and well. Winning is done by going the furthest at the fastest rate, and the winner wins a cash prize.
