With just 95 minutes to go, Germany’s World Cup qualification from Group F was looking bleak. The score was locked at 1-1 and anything but a win against Sweden would make it difficult for them to progress. But then, a glimmer of hope emerged.
Toni Kroos played a free-kick short to Marco Reus and with one exquisite touch, Reus struck the ball with sheer perfection straight into the top corner. A beautiful goal that had the stadium erupting with joy! It was Germany’s saving grace and the World Cup holders had been given a second chance.
