Can Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari Deliver an F1 Championship?

Lewis Hamilton is taking the biggest gamble of his career. The seven-time world champion has left Mercedes, the team that made him an F1 legend, for Ferrari – the sport’s most storied but unpredictable outfit. His move has raised eyebrows across the paddock. Will this partnership finally end Ferrari’s title drought? Or, is Hamilton risking his legacy on a dream that might never come true?
Hamilton’s decision was not just about history. He wanted a long-term future in F1, but Mercedes hesitated. The “one-plus-one” deal they offered for 2024 showed doubt. Ferrari, on the other hand, rolled out the red carpet. A multi-year contract, a hefty pay rise, and the promise of a fresh challenge proved irresistible. But was it the right call?
Can Hamilton Adapt to the ‘Ferrari’ Way?
Ferrari is a beast of its own. Unlike Mercedes, where Hamilton thrived in a structured, data-driven environment, Ferrari operates on emotion as much as engineering. The team has struggled with consistency in recent years, often fast but fragile.

Hamilton / IG / Can Hamilton bring the discipline and technical leadership Ferrari desperately needs? Only time will tell!
There’s also the issue of car characteristics. Mercedes’ recent designs didn’t suit Hamilton’s style, particularly in slow corners. Ferrari’s 2023 car looked stronger, but its DNA is different. If the Ferrari doesn’t respond well to his inputs, will he struggle the way he did at Mercedes? Or will a fresh start unlock his best form?
How Will He Stack Up Against Charles Leclerc?
Hamilton is entering Leclerc’s house. The Monégasque has been Ferrari’s golden boy since 2019 and is blisteringly fast over one lap. Statistically, he is one of the best qualifiers in F1. That means Hamilton might find himself in an unfamiliar position – playing catch-up on Saturdays.
But races are won on Sundays. Hamilton’s racecraft, tire management, and ability to deliver under pressure remain among the best. While Leclerc has struggled at times with race execution, Hamilton is a master at turning tricky situations into podiums.
If Ferrari builds a title-worthy car, their rivalry could be the defining battle of the season.
Is Age a Factor for Hamilton?

Hamilton / IG / Hamilton and Ferrari, the most successful driver of his era, the most legendary team in motorsport, is sure to be a story for the ages.
At 40, Hamilton is the second-oldest driver on the grid, but age hasn’t slowed him down yet. If anything, Fernando Alonso – three years his senior – has proved that experience can be an advantage. Fitness is not an issue either. Hamilton remains one of the most dedicated athletes in the sport.
The real question is motivation. Does he still have the hunger to fight week in and week out? Ferrari is a pressure cooker. The weight of expectations at Maranello is unlike anything he experienced at Mercedes. If early results don’t go his way, how will he handle the scrutiny?
Can Ferrari Give Him a Championship-Winning Car?
This is the biggest unknown. Hamilton is not moving to Ferrari for nostalgia. He wants that eighth world title. But Ferrari has not won a driver’s championship since Kimi Räikkönen in 2007. While the Scuderia has been competitive in bursts, they have lacked the consistency to go all the way.
The good news? Ferrari ended 2023 stronger than Mercedes. If their upward trajectory continues, Hamilton might finally get the car he has been waiting for. But F1 is a moving target. Red Bull is still dominant, and Mercedes is not going away. Ferrari needs reliability, strategy, and flawless execution.
