Referees’ Time To Shine

Replacement officials weren’t effective as the referees during the labor lockout in 2012 that saw the experienced personnel away from work for three months. The NFL Referees Association filed a labor issue against the league, alleging that it engaged in direct dealing.

Unfortunately, replacement personnel weren’t as efficient because they had a lot of missed calls. In the end, the league and the association resolved the issue and came up with a new agreement that lasted until 2019, the longest in its history.
