There are not many openly-gay men in the world of soccer. Robbie Rogers is one of the few, and, in 2013, he was just the second soccer player in Britain to come out as gay. Except for a short spell in England with Leeds United and Stevenage, Rogers spent most of his days playing for the MLS sides Colombus Crew and LA Galaxy.
Now retired, this former winger/left-back remains the most famous openly-gay male soccer athlete in America. He played 18 times for the United States national soccer team.
