Tattoos in Iran aren’t forbidden by law, but they’re not well accepted either. Tattooed people are still the target of discrimination, and tattoo artists are, unfortunately, regularly arrested in the country. Mostly, tattoos are still seen as a “cultural invasion” and disrespectful to Islamic values.

Evidence of that is that two famous Iranian soccer players, Ashkan Dejagah and Sardar Azmoon, were once summoned by the Ethics Committee of the Iranian Football Federation just for revealing the tattoos on their arms during a soccer match.
