Every team in the NBA looks forward to starting a new season on a higher note than they finished the previous one. One of the best illustrations of this was the Dallas Mavericks’ incredible 2007 season after they felt cheated out of a title in 2006.
The Mavericks were under the astute guidance of Dirk Nowitzki, and they went on to win a league-best 67 games. However, Dirk looks back at the fact that they lost to the Golden State Warriors with regret, and he almost turned down the MVP trophy and jetted off on holiday.
