If anyone is looking for a one-of-a-kind dining experience while traveling in Japan, there are plenty of themed restaurants catering to different interests and desires. Some are quite bizarre but offer a completely unique vibe, such as the Alcatraz ER in the capital city of Tokyo.
What made Alcatraz ER a strangely conceptualized restaurant was its prison hospital theme. That’s right, once guests step inside, it felt like they got transported to the infirmary of a lockup facility, and they dined in prison cells with food served in hospital serve ware. The restaurant closed in 2018, but another similar restaurant called The Lockup took its place.
