This image showing the canine of a prehistoric puppy does not do justice to conveying the excitement scientists felt about its discovery. It’s actually pretty rare to find these puppies with intact skin, fur, and internal organs. With this well-preserved specimen, researchers hope to discover the origins of dog domestication.
This puppy is just one of two that were found in Russia’s far north-east region of Yakutia. Interestingly, despite being found about three years apart, it seems they may be related and are about the same age.
