Kingfishers are known for diving into frozen water to find food, but this often leads to them freezing to death. It is a common sight in Europe during winter, where they can be seen trapped in frost in a diving position. Unfortunately, the birds are just hungry and don’t have an alternate source of food.
This particular frozen bird was found by a priest in a pond near the town of Weisendorf in Northern Bavaria. Despite the tragic nature of the event, it is admittedly a rather beautiful sight.
