Videogames in 1969? Yes, That’s Right!
In this almost-forgotten picture, game-developing pioneers Ralph H. Baer and Bill Harrison get together for a fun session of Pong, which was one of the first commercially-available videogames ever. It doesn’t seem like much, does it? It’s just a couple of dots on a black screen, imitating the mechanics of a real-life ping-pong game. But these early games paved the way for the phenomenally popular videogame scene that exists today.
Later on, the United Kingdom would get addicted to more complex and popular early games, such as the Russian puzzle Tetris or the Japanese-made Pac-Man. In a few decades, videogames would go from dots on a screen to a multitude of highly-realistic and interactive 3D universes.
