The Fitness Craze of the ’80s

You know her from recent movies like Veronica Mars and Knives Out. But back in the ’80s, actress Jamie Lee Curtis was one of many who were crazy about the rise of the idea of fitness. Back then, of course, it involved a lot more spandex and coordinated dancing than it does today.

If the ’60s were marked by new political ideals and the ’70s characterized by the exploration of the inner self, the ’80s were the decade of the body. From disco dancing to packed gyms, people like Jamie Lee Curtis were in the origin of some of the principles we still associate with fitness, well-being, and body-building today. The hip, colorful clothes are mostly gone but still serve as great inspiration.
