The year was 1980, and Universal Pictures needed someone to play the Goddess of Dance in the musical fantasy film Xanadu. The obvious choice was Olivia Newton-John, who was arguably America’s most famous young actress at the time. After all, she’d just appeared in Grease two years before.

Today, it’s impossible to recall the late ’70s without considering a pair like Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. Grease became one of the most popular classics of all-time, with Newton-John and Travolta winning the hearts of every young man and woman in the world.
