The Previous Decades Were Cooler Than This One, and These Photos Prove it
Barefoot on Van Nuys Boulevard
Captured in 1972, this vintage photo shows us a scene that seems to be directly taken from a hip coming-of-age movie. But in the early ’70s, this was just real-life. Taking his brand-new Ford Mustang to the Van Nuys Boulevard, in California, this young man got the attention of two female friends.
To add to the picture, they’re all barefoot, which seems like something unimaginable to do in today’s Van Nuys area. Were we freer back then? It’s impossible to tell, but one thing’s for sure: life seemed to run at a slower, more laid-back pace back in the ’70s.
