The Golden Age of Wrestling, Meet the Most Influential Pro Wrestlers of All-time

Roddy “Rowdy” Piper (Roderick Toombs) – Active 1969 to 2011

Even though Roderick Toombs was born in the Canadian city of Saskatoon, he will be forever remembered as the “Rowdy” Roddy Piper from Glasgow, Scotland. In WWF, Roderick’s Scottish heritage was used to build a convincing character, which included the kilt, the bagpipe, and an insurmountable amount of charisma.

Piper was as good of a wrestler as he was an entertainer. Inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2005, he remains one of the most beloved wrestlers in the promotion’s history. Roderick died from a heart attack at the age of 61, 4 short years after retiring.
