The Golden Age of Wrestling, Meet the Most Influential Pro Wrestlers of All-time

Stan Hansen (John Stanley Hansen II) – Active 1973 to 2001

Retired from the ring since 2001, Stan Hansen was the embodiment of the American wrestler. A hat-wearing cowboy who loved to chew on tobacco, dress in leather, and get into a good fight. Ironically, he became much more popular in Japan, a country in which he played the role of gaijin (a foreigner) in the AJPW promotion.

After retirement, Hansen underwent surgery on his damaged knees and back and became an AJPW commissioner. He left the position in 2007, and later, in 2016, he was inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame.
