The Golden Age of Wrestling, Meet the Most Influential Pro Wrestlers of All-time
Jake “The Snake” Roberts (Aurelian Smith Jr.) – Active 1975 to 2015
The good-spirited character of Jake “The Snake” Roberts has seen the rings of multiple wrestling promotions in both Mexico and the U.S. As the first man to introduce the DDT, Roberts can be seen as a pioneer when it comes to wrestling: a sort of proto-superstar wrestler. Roberts was known for using dirty tricks and psychology to win matches against his opponents.
Most notably, he used live snakes to scare his enemies on the ring. Right now, Roberts is working with AEW after recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. Recently, he sponsored AEW’s promising pro wrestler Lance Archer.
