Harley Race (Harley Leland Race) – Active 1960 to 1990
More than a remarkable wrestler and a sports-entertainment pioneer, Harley Race was a notable promoter of the modality. He invested heavily in wrestling arenas and supported an independent wrestling promotion, all before retiring from the ring in 1990.
A mandatory name to all the best wrestlers’ lists, Race is one of only six people to have been inducted into WWE’s, NWA’s, and WCW’s Halls of Fame. An irrepressible winner, he lost his final battle in 2019, succumbing to lung cancer.
