“Can this day get any stranger?” wondered Ashley. People used to complain that nothing ever happened at Fairfield, but Ashley was beginning to think it was the other way around. Then, the stargazing boy moved. Immediately, the gathering crowd gasped, as if the Messiah himself was about to speak.
Unbelievably, the strange boy turned his head back to look directly at Ashley. How he even knew she was there was impossible to tell. And then, he mumbled the first and last words that came out of his mouth that day, “It’s coming,” he whispered. Before the attention of the crowd turned to her, Ashley ran back to her dorm.
