Australia gets accolades for the invention of Goanna Pulling. Competitors use a leather strap connected to their heads, much like traditional tug-o-war, to pull each other across a line down the middle.
This sport is aptly named after the goanna lizard because competitors resemble the lizard when competing. Proper technique is important because neck injury can result from overstraining. The National Goanna Pulling Championships offer men, women, and children divisions. Fun for the whole family!
