Dangerous, Wacky and Eye-Widening Sports Connecting Communities Across the World

Feathered Friends can be Stubborn, Even When Competing

Ostrich racing originated in South Africa, where ostriches are native animals. Ostriches are 5 to 6 feet tall and can run at speeds of 30 to 45 miles per hour. The races run much like horseracing, where jockeys ride the long-legged, flightless birds as they race against their opponents.

The main difference between ostrich racing and horse racing is the entertainment. Ostriches are not as easy to manage or near as predictable as horses, so hilarity often ensues.
