The Minneapolis Lakers are not the most dominant force in the NBA, but they were in 1950. And why wouldn’t they when they had a frontline of legends George Mikan, Jim Pollard, and Vern Mikkelsen?
In November of that year, the super team took on the Fort Wayne Pistons, coached by Murray Mendenhall. Despite promising to win the game in style, the Pistons held the ball for up to five minutes without making a single shot, and they won the game 19-18. As embarrassing as it was, it also led to introducing of the 24-second shot clock.
